Everything you need to know about CoachMatcher — what it is, how it works, and why it's different.
What is CoachMatcher?
CoachMatcher is a verified coaching platform that connects individuals, employees, and organizations with certified professional coaches. We focus on quality, transparency, and measurable outcomes — making professional coaching accessible and scalable.
How does the matching process work?
You can browse coach profiles and filter by focus area, language, and experience. If you'd like a more personalized recommendation, you can fill out a short intake form or have a brief call with our team — and we'll suggest 1 to 3 coaches that fit your needs based on our own matching process.
Are the coaches on CoachMatcher certified?
Yes. Every coach on our platform goes through a rigorous verification process. We check recognized certifications (ICF, EMCC, SCA or equivalent), professional experience, and references. On top of that, each coach completes an empathy check to ensure they can build strong, trust-based relationships with their clients. Only coaches who meet all our quality standards are listed.
In which languages is coaching available?
Our coaches work in a wide range of languages including German, English, French, Italian, and more. Language preference is part of the matching criteria, so you'll always be paired with a coach who speaks your language fluently.
Is CoachMatcher available outside Switzerland?
CoachMatcher is based in Switzerland and currently focused on the Swiss market. However, our coaches work remotely and can serve clients across DACH and beyond. If you're outside Switzerland, feel free to reach out — we'll find a solution.
What is the difference between coaching and therapy?
Coaching is future-focused and action-oriented — it helps you set goals, unlock potential, and navigate change. Therapy, on the other hand, often addresses past experiences, emotional trauma, or mental health conditions. Coaching is not a substitute for therapy, but a powerful complement to it for people who are mentally healthy and ready to grow.
For Companies & HR Teams
How CoachMatcher helps HR teams scale coaching programs, demonstrate ROI, and reduce admin overhead.
How does CoachMatcher work for companies?
Companies get access to a dedicated dashboard showing the results and impact of their coaching program. We support the entire process and handle all admin — from matching to invoicing — so your HR team can stay focused on strategy.
Can we measure the impact of our coaching program?
Yes. CoachMatcher uses a standardized impact measurement framework. After each coaching cycle, employees and coaches fill in structured feedback. HR teams receive aggregated reports showing goal attainment, engagement levels, and program ROI — all anonymized and GDPR-compliant.
How quickly can we launch a coaching program?
Most companies are live within 5–10 business days. After an onboarding call, we set up your organization account, configure your coaching budget, and brief your employees. The first matches typically happen within 14 days of launch.
Can employees choose their own coach?
Yes. Employees receive a curated shortlist of matched coaches and can choose who to work with. They can read profiles, view areas of expertise, and book a free intro session before committing. For companies who want more involvement, HR teams can also participate in the matching process together with our team.
How does billing and invoicing work for companies?
Billing is handled per coaching assignment — meaning per employee coaching engagement. There are no annual contracts. You only pay for what is actually used, which keeps things transparent and easy to manage for your organization.
Is CoachMatcher GDPR-compliant?
Yes. CoachMatcher is fully GDPR-compliant and hosted on EU-based infrastructure. All employee data is processed under a data processing agreement. HR teams only have access to anonymized, aggregated program data — never individual coaching content. We take data privacy seriously as a founding principle.
For Employees
Your company offers coaching through CoachMatcher — here's everything you need to know to get started.
My company uses CoachMatcher — how do I get started?
You'll receive an invitation link from your HR team or directly from CoachMatcher. Create your profile and describe your development goals. You can browse coaches directly, and our team will also suggest 3 matching coaches within 48 hours based on your profile — so you can choose the one that feels right.
Is my coaching data visible to my employer?
Your coaching conversations are strictly confidential. Your employer only sees anonymized, aggregated data at the program level — never individual session content, goals, or coach feedback. Confidentiality is a non-negotiable principle at CoachMatcher.
How many coaching sessions do I get?
The number of sessions depends on the package your company has set up. Typically it's 6–12 sessions per cycle. Some companies also allow you to top up with additional sessions if needed — check with your HR team for details on your specific program.
Can I change my coach if it's not a good fit?
Yes, you can request a new coach at any time and at no cost. The match between coach and coachee is the single most important factor for successful coaching. If the fit isn't right, changing is not just allowed — it's encouraged.
Are sessions held online or in person?
Both options are available. Most sessions take place online via video call for maximum flexibility. But coaches can also come to your company for in-person sessions if preferred. You can discuss the format directly with your coach after matching.
What happens if my coaching budget runs out?
You'll receive a notification when you're approaching your session limit. Depending on your company's policy, you may be able to request an extension through your HR team. In some organizations, employees can also top up their budget by paying for additional sessions privately.
For Individual Clients
Booking coaching independently? Here's how CoachMatcher works for individuals outside of a corporate program.
Can I book coaching as a private individual?
Yes. CoachMatcher is available to individuals who want to invest in their own development. You can sign up independently, define your goals, get matched with a coach, and book sessions directly — without any company involvement.
What does coaching cost for private individuals?
Pricing depends on the coach and package you choose. Rates are transparently listed on each coach's profile. We offer session packages to make coaching more affordable and consistent. A free introductory session is always included before you commit.
What coaching topics can I work on?
Common topics include leadership development, career transitions, work-life balance, confidence, communication, and personal growth. Our coaches cover a wide range of specializations — you can filter by focus area to find the right match for your specific needs.
How long does a typical coaching engagement last?
Most coaching engagements run over 3–6 months with bi-weekly sessions. This gives enough time to build momentum, work through challenges, and see real progress. That said, you can also book individual sessions if you have a specific one-off topic.
Is there a free trial or intro session?
Yes. Every new client starts with a free 15-minute chemistry call with their matched coach. This short conversation helps you get a feel for the coach, ask your first questions, and decide whether you'd like to continue. You only commit and pay after this call.
How is coaching different from mentoring or consulting?
A consultant tells you what to do. A mentor shares their own experience and advice. A coach asks powerful questions that help you find your own answers. Coaching is a personalized, non-directive process that builds self-awareness, agency, and lasting change — not dependency on an expert.
For Coaches — Join CoachMatcher
Interested in joining our verified coach network? Here's what you need to know about the application process, requirements, and how the platform works for coaches.
How can I apply to become a CoachMatcher coach?
You can apply via our website by submitting your coaching profile and certifications. A short video introduction is optional but recommended. Our team reviews every application individually, and if you meet our quality standards, you'll be invited for a verification interview before being listed on the platform.
What are the requirements to join as a coach?
We require a recognized coaching certification (ICF, EMCC, SCA or equivalent), documented coaching experience, and professional liability insurance. We also look for coaches with real-world business or leadership background, as most of our clients work on professional development goals.
How does CoachMatcher handle pricing and earnings for coaches?
You set your own hourly rate. The platform fee depends on the subscription plan you choose as a coach. Payments from private clients are processed directly through the platform. For company programs, billing is handled as part of the corporate agreement — the setup may vary by program.
Can I maintain my existing private clients alongside CoachMatcher?
Absolutely. CoachMatcher is designed to complement your existing practice, not replace it. You choose your own availability, set your schedule, and can accept or decline proposed matches. Many coaches on our platform work part-time while continuing to run their own coaching business.
What support does CoachMatcher provide to coaches on the platform?
Every coach profile includes session scheduling tools so clients can book directly. Depending on your subscription level, CoachMatcher also supports you with profile optimization, publishing events and blog posts, and increased visibility on LinkedIn and other channels. Our team is available to help you get the most out of the platform.
How are coaches matched with clients — do I have any control?
Our matching mechanism connects clients to coaches based on specialization, language, availability, and experience. You always have the option to accept or decline a proposed match, which gives you full control over your workload and client mix.
